Whether it’s a sudden illness or an unexpected injury, our team is ready to step in with fast, professional, and compassionate support.

Urgent Care Exams

When your pet suddenly isn’t acting like themselves, Urgent Paws Veterinary Clinic is here to provide timely, compassionate care, without the long wait times of an emergency hospital. In-House Laboratory

Getting to the root of your pet’s health concerns starts with accurate, timely diagnostics. Our in-house lab allows us to run a wide range of blood work and diagnostic tests quickly, often with same-day results, so we can make informed decisions about your pet’s care without delay.

Whether your pet is showing signs of illness or we’re monitoring ongoing health conditions, diagnostic testing provides essential insights into what’s happening inside their body.

We offer comprehensive testing options, including:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

  • Biochemical Profile

  • Electrolyte Panel

  • Thyroid Testing

  • Pancreatic Enzyme Testing

  • Urinalysis

  • Cytology

  • and more

Our in-house diagnostics allow us to act fast when your pet needs answers, whether it’s an urgent situation or part of a wellness workup. By combining advanced lab testing with expert interpretation, we make sure your furry family member receives the right treatment, right when they need it.

If you suspect your pet isn’t feeling their best, we’re here to help uncover the cause and guide them back to health.

Reference Lab Diagnostics

Some medical questions require deeper investigation, and when they do, Urgent Paws Veterinary Clinic partners with trusted external reference laboratories to offer a full spectrum of advanced diagnostic testing. These extended lab services allow us to access specialized, high-sensitivity tests that go beyond routine in-house screening.

Whether we’re looking to confirm a diagnosis, monitor a chronic condition, or uncover the underlying cause of persistent symptoms, our reference lab capabilities ensure your pet gets the most accurate and comprehensive testing available.

Diagnostic Imaging

When your pet can’t tell us what’s wrong, diagnostic imaging helps us see what’s happening beneath the surface. At Urgent Paws Veterinary Clinic, we offer state-of-the-art in-house imaging to diagnose injuries and internal issues quickly and accurately—so we can get your pet the care they need without delay.

Our facility is equipped with advanced digital X-ray and ultrasound technology, allowing us to capture detailed images of your pet’s bones, organs, and soft tissues in real time. Whether it’s a sudden limp, a persistent cough, abdominal discomfort, or an unexplained illness, our imaging tools help us pinpoint the issue fast.

Our imaging services include:

  • Digital X-rays (radiographs): Ideal for evaluating fractures, joint issues, foreign bodies, heart size, lung health, and more.

  • Ultrasound imaging: Non-invasive, real-time imaging to assess internal organs like the bladder, uterus, kidneys, but also to assess tissues like the muscles and subcutaneous layer or unexpected swellings or lumps.

  • Pregnancy checks and birthing concerns: Ultrasound allows us to safely monitor fetal development and assess complications.

To provide the highest level of care, we also offer rapid access to board-certified radiology consultants. When a specialist’s insight is needed, we can send images for expert interpretation—often with same-day or next-day results—helping us deliver the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan possible.

Wellness and Vaccines

If your pet is due for a routine exam, a vaccine booster, or a prescription refill and your regular clinic isn’t available, we’re here to help. Our team offers last-minute wellness appointments to ensure your pet stays protected and healthy, even when schedules don’t align with your regular veterinarian.

What we offer:

  • Vaccinations (with proof of previous vaccine history)

  • Wellness exams for healthy pets

  • Prescription refills (with a valid current prescription)

  • Preventative care guidance

  • Communication with your regular vet to keep their records up to date

We maintain open communication with your primary veterinarian and will forward all records from your visit so your pet’s medical history stays complete and accurate.

Please note: For wellness and preventative appointments, we require proof of prior vaccinations and any current prescriptions related to your visit. If you’re unsure what documentation you need, don’t hesitate to reach out—our team is happy to guide you.

Compassionate Euthanasia

When your pet’s quality of life has declined and the time comes to consider euthanasia, you can trust our team to provide gentle, compassionate care that honours the bond you share. Whether your pet is suffering from a terminal illness, unmanageable pain, or age-related decline, we’re here to offer guidance, support, and a peaceful goodbye.

What to expect:

  • A quiet, private space for you and your pet

  • Thoughtful, step-by-step explanations of the process

  • Pain-free, stress-reducing sedation to ensure comfort if requested or required

  • Time to say goodbye on your terms

  • Many cremation and memorial options are available if requested

We know this may be a sudden or unexpected decision, and we encourage you to lean on your primary care veterinarian whenever possible for end-of-life discussions. However, if you need urgent euthanasia services and cannot wait for a scheduled appointment, we are here to support you with compassionate same-day care.

If possible, please contact us ahead of time so we can prepare a calm, respectful environment for you and your beloved companion. At Urgent Paws, we are honoured to help pets cross the rainbow bridge with peace—and to be there for the families who love them.

Pet Wellness

Certain health concerns require consistent monitoring, ongoing adjustments, and a trusted relationship built over time. That’s why we encourage pet owners to partner closely with their regular veterinarian for the management of chronic conditions and lifelong care.

Conditions best managed by your regular veterinarian include:

  • Diabetes

  • Cushing’s disease

  • Thyroid imbalances

  • Chronic kidney or liver disease

  • Long-term pain management

  • Behavioral concerns or anxiety disorders

These conditions often require regular testing, medication adjustments, and detailed medical histories that are best tracked through one continuous care provider. Your family vet knows your pet’s unique story—their progress, sensitivities, and how they respond to treatment.

If your pet experiences an urgent flare-up related to a chronic issue and your regular vet is unavailable, we’re happy to help stabilize their condition and provide short-term support. Afterward, we’ll share records and findings with your primary clinic to ensure a seamless return to long-term care.
